Squad Assault: Second Wave Goes Gold

GONE GOLD posted on 9 AUG 2005 by Chris Abele

A new edition of this Close Combat successor will be available in September.

Squad Assault: Second Wave has gone gold, Got Game Entertainment announced today. Second Wave is the follow-up to last year's Squad Assault: West Front (review), the 3D real-time squad-level wargame first developed by Eric Young and inspired by the popular Close Combat series. Now working for DAS Entertainment, Eric Young and his team of developers have improved upon West Front with new battles, new modder maps, and more.

The Squad Assault series primarily focuses on company-level combat during World War II, and models such factors as unit strength, morale, fatigue, environments, vehicles, armor penetration, and other highly detailed aspects expected of a historical wargame. Some of the important features included in Second Wave are 57 total single player scenarios, a scenario editor, six dynamic campaigns, pausable real-time play, 3D environments, a new mod installer for supporting new 3rd party modifications, and more.

Squad Assault: Second Wave will be released to retail stores in North America on September 3rd, priced at $29.99. The game will be distributed by Merscom and Got Game. For more information on the game, visit its official web site.
